2000 through 2002

 

2000

Our Choir Director, Bill Robinson's work forced him to leave us after twenty-three years.

 

His new-job was in Dallas.

 

Aaron Smith began work as our Youth Pastor in April.

 

We conducted a series of Wednesday Night Fellowships in August with slide show, a magic show, a visit to a play, and "Singspiration".

 

Frank Preston organized a grief support group.

 

Ken Baker became our new Choir Director in August

 
 
 
 

2001
Joshua Yates became our new Youth Director in April.
 
The Kerygma Bible class began in September.
 
San Diego Presbytery met at La Mesa Church in September.
 
A "Barn Sale" was held in September to raise funds for youth camper ships.
 
A very successful Craft Fair was held in October
 
Rev. Jeff Baxter accepted a call to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in St. George, Utah, and a search for an interim pastor was begun.
 
 

 

2002
In March, Dr. James W. Hagelganz accepted the call to become our interim pastor, and the process for determining our church's mission and seeking a new pastor was begun A women’s' book club was initiated.
 
A web site for La Mesa Church was established.
 
A skate park for our youth and for attracting neighborhood youth was begun in our back lot.
 
A major updating of the church by-laws was conducted.
 
We ended the year with 133 members.
